Support your students as they write an opera.  First, join us for a training workshop where we create an opera. Learn how to interweave your core lesson plans with your students’ creativity and cooperation, increasing their writing skills, music abilities, scenic artistry and proclivity for drama right into performance!  This is free of charge for elementary teachers to partner with the Utah Opera.

Professionals will help your students write an opera on a subject of their interest, prepping the scenery, writing the lyrics and script, and performing the opera. Trained professionals will help with the musical score and steps along the way. It is a learning opportunity that incorporates a whole approach to integrating multiple content areas including ELA, Fine Arts, Science/Social Studies (depending on the topic chosen).

Get principal permission before signing up.

The full opera training has 8 re-licensure points that then roll into either 30 points or a full 2 USBE credits upon completion of their students creating an opera with our side-by-side mentoring. Pre and post-assessment and a self-evaluation, pictures of the process, and a video of the performance are required for credit.
