Back Up Your Data This Holiday Season: A Cybersecurity Tech Tip

Winter break is right around the corner! This could be the perfect time to ensure that all your important data is backed up. Follow these steps to protect your valuable information:

1. Automate Backups: Set up automatic backups to avoid the hassle of manual processes. Most systems and cloud services offer this feature, ensuring your data is regularly updated without any extra effort.
2. Verify Your Backups: Periodically check your backups to ensure they are complete and accessible. A backup is only useful if you can restore the data when needed.
3. Protect Sensitive Information: If you have especially important information, the “3-2-1 Rule” works great: Three Copies: Keep three copies of your data. This means one primary copy and two backups. Two Formats: Store your backups in two different formats, such as an external hard drive and cloud storage. One Offsite: Ensure one copy is stored offsite. Cloud storage services like Google Drive, Dropbox, or a secure physical location are great options.
