Secondary ELD teachers, check out this week’s ELD newsletter to learn about an acting strategy to help students practice listening, Vista’s online webinars, and how students can use Rosetta Stone during the summer.

Try This Strategy!

Text, Ready, Action!

This is a fun strategy to help students practice their listening. Have students listen to a text read aloud by you or by a peer. As they listen, they act out what they hear. Pause often to discuss what students are hearing or seeing; give students time to reflect and make connections. You can have lower-level students act out sentences or even words, while higher-level students can act out whole stories.

Summer Rosetta Stone Usage

Students who already have an account can use Rosetta Stone through the summer by logging into their Clever account on a mobile device.

For iOS: Students download the Clever app and log in there. Once logged in, they will see the Rosetta Stone app just like they do on a Chromebook.

For Android: Students go to clever.com/in/provo on a mobile browser and log in to Clever there.

Once students are logged in to Clever, they can download the Rosetta Stone app and continue their work from the school year!

Curriculum Corner: Online Free Webinars

Did you know that Vista offers free training webinars for teachers? Topics range from how to use the vhl Supersite to remote learning to differentiating instruction using the curriculum. To see what webinars are available, click here or simply scroll through the options on the vhl homepage!
