Curriculum Committee Meeting Summary for February 2024

The District Secondary Literacy Committee

The Secondary Literacy Committee met on February 12 to begin the evaluation of 3 programs:

• Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s Into Literature
• McGraw-Hill’s Study Sync
• Savvas’ myPerspectives.

The committee discussed each program’s alignment to Utah Core standards, rigor, training and support for teachers, and digital platforms. Committee members will meet again on February 23 to hear presentations from vendors and continue their evaluations. District Fine Arts Committee Meeting Summary

The District Fine Arts Committee met February 12, 2024. 

1. We reviewed and adopted the proposed summary document as our final version of the Phase 1 Summary document
2. The committee is not comfortable completing the needs assessment necessary for completion of Phase 1 on behalf of dance and drama teachers without representation from those groups
3. The committee agreed that the adopted Phase 1 Summary document is complete for music and art.
4. The committee is ready to move into Phase 2 with focused emphasis on music and art, pausing discussions concerning dance and drama.
5. Phase 2 conversations will begin at our next meeting

District World Languages Committee Meeting Report

The District World Languages Committee met February 12, 2024. 

• Committee discussed how each school has been using the new curriculum (successes, questions)
• French & Spanish teachers set up the Canvas LTI integration for Wayside
• Committee discussed need for proficiency training from ACTFL to be included in PD
