When founded in 2015, ALAS-Utah set a goal to “increase the number of Latino educational leaders at the school, district, and state level.” In an effort to convert this goal into reality, we offer scholarships each year to Latino educators who aspire to leadership positions. This year is no exception, and it is our pleasure to announce three $5,000 scholarships for Latino educators who are interested in pursuing an educational leadership program that leads to an administrative license
Two ALAS-Utah scholarships are available, to be used at (1) a Utah college or university or (2) an out-of-state online program while residing in Utah. One additional scholarship is offered in cooperation with Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, Arizona (and will be used for a distance learning degree from that institution). These scholarships are available to any interested Latino educator, so feel free to share this message with your colleagues. Applicants must be members of ALAS, but all are welcome to join prior to applying. Click here to join ALAS-Utah.
There are stipulations, so please give careful attention to the attached Information Summaries (ALAS & GCU versions), Application Forms (ALAS & GCU versions), and Commitment Form (single version, for use with both applications). These scholarship forms can also be accessed on our website.
The deadline for submission of application packets is midnight, Friday, April 9, 2021. Submit your packet to contact@alasutah.org .
On Thursday, March 18, 6:30-7:30 pm, we will offer a VIRTUAL PANEL DISCUSSION. Previous scholarship recipients will talk about the application process as well as their subsequent graduate school experience. Even if you are not currently ready for scholarships and graduate school, we trust the discussion will be informative and may encourage you to work toward this goal, so reserve the day and time on your calendar. We will send out a flyer within the next few days and a zoom invitation about one week prior to the event.
If you have any immediate questions, feel free to reach out to either of us by email or text.
