The USOE requires an LEA approved two-hour suicide prevention training for active educators. (Utah Code 53 A-1-603 #10) Teachers with a Level 1 License are required to complete training as part of the requirements to upgrade from a Level 1 to a Level 2 Teaching License. ALL EDUCATORS renewing their Level 2 or Level 3 License are required to complete a two-hour suicide prevention training as well. One LEA approved two-hour suicide prevention class must be completed each license cycle.
Provo City School District’s Suicide Prevention Class provides training and understanding of the nature of youth suicide; risk and protective factors; warning signs and clues; and appropriate intervention steps. Successful completion of this training will fulfill the USOE requirement Utah Code 53 A-1-603 #10.
Here are the 2019/2020 School year dates and locations for the suicide prevention training. Each training will be taught by Greg Hudnall and will be held at the GTC (Grandview Technology Center (located at 1591 North Jordan Ave.) from 3:30 – 5:30pm.
