PK-12 Principals,

BYU is again offering The Literacy Promise conference for PK-12 teachers, coaches, and administrators. We understand substitutes are not easy to get, so we want to run our offer through you, the principals. The district will pay for 1-2 teachers/leaders from each school location to attend (schools would pay for the substitute). It is on the evening of March 23 (optional) and then runs on Thursday and Friday, March 24-25. Of course, you may choose to pay for and register additional staff. Given our work with AVID and content literacy, there are applications for most educators.

We encourage teachers to attend some of the best, evidence-based practice presenters, including:

  • Nancy Frey, Hattie co-author on Learning Targets in Literacy
  • Kelly Gallagher, co-author of our secondary English curriculum, My Perspectives
  • Lori Oczkus, leading researcher on Reciprocal Teaching
  • David Kilpatrick, leading researcher on reading difficulties
  • Linda Farrell, former LETRS trainer and leading early literacy educator

Please invite your selected educators and submit their names on this form by March 1 (principal access only)
