In the online realm, phishing threats lurk, but you hold the key to protection. Follow these steps:

  1. Verify Sender’s Email: Even if an email looks familiar, always double-check the sender’s email address. Scammers often impersonate trusted contacts to trick you into opening harmful content. Be cautious of unexpected messages.
  2. Avoid Clicking Suspicious Links: Hover over links before clicking to preview the URL. If it seems unusual or redirects unexpectedly, refrain from clicking. When presented with a link to log into an important system via email, it’s usually best practice to navigate to that site directly and log in. Login links sent in emails could be phishing. If you receive an email attachment you weren’t expecting, use caution before opening it.
  3. Guard Sensitive Information: Be cautious about sharing personal or sensitive info online, especially in response to unexpected requests. Legitimate entities won’t ask for sensitive data via email.

Start the new year with smarter and safer email habits! Protect not just your inbox but our entire school district. Remember, the security of our digital accounts is a shared responsibility. By adopting these practices, you contribute to the overall resilience of our cybersecurity defenses.
