To provide the best support possible we found it was necessary to change our Apple management software from our current provider, Filewave, to a new provider, JAMF. We are in the process of changing the software on all Apple devices across the district. We appreciate your support as we work through this transition, and will make every effort to keep disruptions at a minimum.
As part of this process you may see some alerts from Filewave, or JAMF on your computer. This is expected behavior as we work on removing Filewave and adding JAMF. Some alerts relating to Sophos or Content Keeper may also appear as we switch over to the new system.
You may receive an alert on an iPad that apps are being revoked. Any revoked apps will remain on the device for 30 days from the time of the message. This allows time to coordinate with tech to transition the device. Apps will be reapplied after the device is enrolled in JAMF. Apps you have downloaded/purchased using your Apple ID will not be revoked.
This process does not affect data on computers. However we always recommend every employee maintain a backup of their data for unforeseen circumstances.
Unfortunately, to change the management of iPads will require the iPad to be erased and reconfigured. We will work with each school to coordinate transitioning employee iPads to allow employees time to save data from their devices before making the change.
We will start transitioning employee devices as soon as employees are back in schools. Instructions will be provided to employees who wish to move their own device to the new system.
The main change users will see is the Self-Service Kiosk for downloading district apps. On computers the kiosk will move to the dock from the menu bar. For iPads the icon will change to the JAMF Self Service from the Filewave kiosk.
We are currently in the process of transitioning all student devices across the district. Our goal is to have all student devices ready to go before the first day of school.
This change will not affect any Windows computer, it will only affect Apple computers, iPads, and Apple TVs.
To make this process as smooth as possible, please update your devices to the latest operating system. Begin transferring data you wish to keep from your district iPad to another location. And as always we recommend maintaining a backup of your critical files.
For questions or concerns please reach out to our help desk. You can do so through our work order system or by phone. Ext. 4878.
