PCSD Employees,

We are entering the final few days to vote on the 2025-26 School Year Calendar Options Survey. Please take a few minutes to read the information below and then vote on your preferred option using the survey link at the bottom.

Between October 11 and November 5, Provo City School District conducted a survey of community members, parents, employees and students to learn which priorities are the most important when building the school year calendars. In total, the survey gathered 2,617 responses.

Respondents were asked to look at nine statements and rank them in order of importance. These options were:

  1. Calendar aligns with neighboring districts (Nebo and Alpine)
  2. Calendar aligns with local universities
  3. Full 2-week (+/-) Christmas Break
  4. Full one-week Spring Break
  5. Full 3-day Fall Break
  6. School year begins between August 11 and August 22 (school year would end before Memorial Day)
  7. School year begins between August 25 and August 29 (school year LIKELY WILL NOT end before Memorial Day)
  8. School year begins in September after Labor Day (school year WILL NOT end before Memorial Day)
  9. School year ends before Memorial Day.

Results were provided in a weighted ranking. For weighted ranking, the lower the number, the higher the stated priority from respondents. For example, in our survey, a #1 rank has a weight of 1, #2 has a weight of 2 and so on.

Weighted Ranking Results

  1. Full 2 week (+/-) Christmas Break – 3.90
  2. Full one week Spring Break – 4.22
  3. Full 3-day Fall Break – 4.50
  4. School year ends before Memorial Day – 4.80
  5. School year begins between August 11 and August 22 (school year would end before Memorial Day) – 5.08
  6. School year begins between August 25 and August 29 (school year LIKELY WILL NOT end before Memorial Day) – 5.35
  7. Calendar aligns with local universities – 5.55
  8. Calendar aligns with neighboring districts (Nebo and Alpine) – 5.57
  9. School year begins in September after Labor Day (school year WILL NOT end before Memorial Day) – 5.85

Based on these results, the two calendar options below were developed for the 2025-2026 school year. This survey will remain open until Sunday, December 10, 2023 at 11:59 p.m.

Please review both options carefully and select the 2025-2026 school year calendar that you prefer.

Note:  You can enlarge the calendars included in the survey by clicking on them.

Thank you.
