This is a great strategy to help students restate a question in a written or spoken response. First, have them match constructed response questions to sentence starters and analyze them. Then, give students a prompt to respond to using similar sentence starters. Check out this strategy on Ellevation for how-tos and ready made sentence stems.
Several people have asked about how to make it so students can’t see assignments from past terms under “Overdue” on their dashboard. The only way to do this is to unassgn those assignments completely, which would also remove them from your Vista gradebook. To unassign multiple assignments at once, go to Assign > Assignment Calendar and look for the due date of those assignments > Click on the information or the name > Select the activities or unselect the activities they do not want to unassign > Click on Unassign.
Units in Bridges and Get Ready! have built-in speaking and writing tests that are aligned to the essential question and learning throughout the unit. The tests in Get Ready! have sentence frames that students can use. These would be great practices for the ACCESS test and good progress monitoring tools as well. To assign them, go to Assign > Assessments and scroll down to “Speaking & Writing Tests.”
