Jared Ferguson, who had been serving as the district’s CTE Director, has left the district to pursue other opportunities. Gary Wall will be temporarily replacing Jared as the interim CTE Director. The full-time position will be open for applicants sometime in the Spring.
Jared will be greatly missed, as he has impacted Provo City School District in many positive ways. He started in 1995 as a science teacher at Provo High School. After earning his administrative degree, he was the assistant principal at the former Farrer Middle School and then later at Independence High School and Provo High School.
While assistant principal at Provo High School, Jared also took on the role of work-based learning coordinator, which is a high school student internship program. In 2007, he became the CTE director and STEM coordinator at the district office, where he stayed until his recent departure.
He has achieved many great accomplishments during his time here. Some of these include receiving the Utah School Counselor Association Administrator of the Year (2016) award and being on the chair for the Utah Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment and Mountainland Region CTE. He also wrote and received many STEM grants for the district.
Jared is known as a strong advocate for the CTE programs, concurrent enrollment and ESP staff. Those who worked with him know that he is very self-less and that he always makes a point to recognize others and their efforts.
Thank you Jared for the tremendous impact you have had on our school district and those around you. Though you will be greatly missed, we wish you good luck in your future endeavors.
