Learning Target: I am learning to use technology for civic engagement and to be a force for good.

It is important to realize that our students are not just tech wizards, but that we should provide opportunities for them to become super digital citizens by engaging in digital spaces for good. Micro-activism refers to small, everyday actions people can take to support or advocate for a cause or issue. The list below provides suggestions within academic content areas where 

1. Social Studies: Encourage students to research current issues and discuss possible solutions. They can write letters to their local representatives or create awareness campaigns for social media using Canva or Adobe Express.

2. Science: Have students explore environmental issues. They can participate in online campaigns to combat climate change or create informative blog posts or videos about these topics.

3. English: Incorporate literature that discusses social issues. Students can write persuasive essays or create podcasts to share their thoughts and solutions.

4. Math: Use statistics related to social issues for problem-solving exercises. Students can then create infographics to raise awareness.

It’s all about helping students use their skills to make a difference. Encourage them to share their work in a digital collaborative board, or other place for showcasing student work and learning.
