Provo City School District requires enterprise security on our wireless and wired networks to ensure your connection is safe and secure. Many devices are not built with enterprise security in mind. Because of this, PCSD tech support cannot guarantee that any non-district purchased device will successfully connect to the PCSD network. Just because it’s a new device doesn’t mean it will have the capabilities to connect.

Here is a list of things to look for when purchasing a device you would like to attach to our network:

  • 5GHz wifi compatibility (If the device only supports 2.4GHz it is not compatible with PCSD network.)
  • 802.1x authentication compatibility
  • 802.11n/ac compatibility (Just because it’s 802.11n compatible doesn’t mean it’s 5GHz compatible.)
  • Dual band (supports 5GHz and 2.4GHz) to support non-enterprise networks you may have at home.
  • If you are having trouble, take these specifications with you when you are planning to make a purchase.
