Summer Hours and 2017-18 Professional Development

Provo City School District will once again be working 10 hours per day, Monday through Thursday, this summer. Please note, if there is a need to work on Fridays in the summer employees are asked to leave all lights off and the air conditioning will not be running.

• The Summer Schedule will begin the week of May 29, 2017.
• The first Friday off will be June 2, 2017.
• The regular schedule will resume the week of July 31, 2017.
• The first Friday back will be August 4, 2017.

There are 3 holidays that fall within the summer schedule. The District will observe these holidays as follows:

• Memorial Day – will be observed on Monday, May 29.
• July 4 – will be observed on both Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4.
• July 24 – will be observed on Monday, July 24, 2017.

Important – District Employees:

While working the summer schedule, weeks with a holiday will require employees to work an adjusted schedule. For the week of Memorial Day and July 24, there will be 3 days to work 32 hours. For the week of July 4, there will be 2 days to work 24 hours. Please coordinate any use of leave with your supervisor.

• Tuesday, August 8 – All Teachers Return
  • 4 hours School-directed, 4 hours Teacher-directed
  • AM: School Business Meeting
  • PM: Teacher-directed Preparation
• Wednesday, August 9 – 8 hours District-directed
  • AM: District-directed Teacher Preparation
  • PM: District-directed, school-based PD
• Thursday, August 10 – 8 hours District-directed
  • 8:00 – 9:45: District Kick-off at Timpview High School
  • 10:00 – 12:00: Grade Level and Content Area Collaboration Meetings
  • 1:15 – 3:15: District PD
• Friday, August 11 – 4 hours School-directed, 4 hours Teacher-directed
  • AM: District-directed Professional Development
  • PM: Teacher-directed Preparation
• Monday, August 14 – 8 hours Teacher-directed
  • AM & PM: Teacher-directed Preparation
• Tuesday, August 15 – Classes Begin
