All K-12 students are invited to enter the second annual Fighting Words Poetry Contest, an initiative of the Pulitzer Center.

Students are asked to write a poem in response to the urgent current events that matter to them, including lines from a Pulitzer Center news story. Winners and finalists can receive cash prizes up to $100 and publication. Students are welcome to enter video or audio recordings as well as text files.

The deadline is May 20, 2019. For complete contest guidelines and a lesson plan for a workshop that prepares students to craft successful entries, please visit the Pultizer Center website.

If you have questions or would like assistance in facilitating a workshop, email Hannah Berk at hberk@pulitzercenter.org.
