There will be four district-wide professional development days during the 2016-2017 school year: August 15, October 19, January 17, April 10. On those days, teachers will have school-based training from 8:00-10:30, PLC implementation time after that, and then teacher-choice sessions from 1:00-3:30.
The lecture series will be various one-time presentations, so teachers will sign up for a new one for each professional development day; this professional learning qualifies for relicensure credit only.
Teachers selecting courses or applied book studies will enroll in their choice for the year. Those teachers attending lectures will enroll in a different session each time. The courses, lecture series, and applied book studies are described below.
Register for the afternoon professional development session of your choice by looking at each of the three options. By clicking on the “register for this course” link, you will be directed to On Track. Please have your CACTUS identification number to log in to On Track. The courses are four-session series and will include projects, readings, and classroom application assignments. Attendance at all four sessions is required. Each course session will go from 1:00-3:30. Lane change credit will be offered.
The Lecture Series will offer a variety of presentations on each of the professional development days; relicensure credit will be offered for each lecture. Each lecture will go from 1:00-3:30 and will offer a wide range of selections to meet the diverse needs and interests of Provo City School District teachers. Relicensure credit will be offered.
Applied Book Studies
The Book Studies, like Courses, are each four sessions; attendance at all four sessions is required. Participants will be given the book and will read it over the course of the year. Each session will include discussions and classroom application opportunities. Lane change credit will be offered.
