Pay Check Information & FAQ

Paychecks

Provo City School District pays once a month on the 15th of each month. Paychecks are directly deposited into a bank account of the employees choosing. A brief statement is generated and sent to each employee’s Provo City School District e-mail account informing the employee of payment date and paycheck amount. An official paycheck stub is issued electronically and stored in the Employee Service Portal system.

Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Paychecks

What if the 15th is on a weekend? If the 15th of the month falls on a weekend, then paychecks will be issued on the Friday before.

What if the 15th is on a holiday? When the 15th falls on an official bank holiday, paychecks are issued on the last working day before the holiday. If it is a school holiday, such as Spring Break, paychecks will still be issued on the 15th.

What work am I getting paid for? Hourly Employees are paid for the work done in the previous month. (Example: You will be paid on April 15th for all the hours you worked in March.) Contracted Employees are paid for the contract month in which they are paid. (Example: You will be paid on April 15th for your April contract month.)

When do I get my first paycheck? If you are an hourly employee, you will receive your first paycheck the month following your starting month. If you are contracted employee, you will receive your first check on the next closest pay day. (Example: If you are hired on February 5th, you will receive your first paycheck on February 15th. If you are hired on February 20th, you will receive your first pay check on March 15th.) If you are a new teacher hired at the beginning of the school year, your first check will be issued on September 15th.

Where can I access my paycheck stub? You can access and print your paycheck stub by logging into the Provo City School District Portal and accessing Employee Service Portal. See Employee Service Portal tab.

What does YTD mean on my paycheck stub? This is an abbreviation for Year to Date. It represents everything from the beginning of the school contract year (July) to the end of the school contract year (June). It means we have added up the amounts in that specific column from all your prior checks and create that total.

Can my school secretary print off my paycheck stub? No, only the employee has access to their personal Employee Service Portal system. For information as to how to access this see Employee Service Portal tab.

Can I change the account my paycheck goes into? Yes. A new Direct Deposit Form will need to be completed and a voided check attached from the new account. You will need to turn this in to the Payroll Department before the first of the month in order for it to be effective for that month’s payroll (Example: A direct deposit form needs to be turned in by August 1st to have the account changed for the August 15th payroll). We suggest that you keep the old account open until after payday to make sure the accounts have been correctly changed.

How come I haven’t been paid? If you have been paid previously through Provo City School District, you will need to contact Liz Boardman at (801) 374-4846. If you have never been paid by Provo City School District, you need to make sure you have signed up for employment with the HR Department (See NEW HIRE tab). If you have gone through the new hire process, you need to contact Liz Boardman at (801) 374-4846.
